Western Union

The Western Union Company is a financial services and communications company based in the United States. Its North American headquarters is in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and its international marketing and commercial services headquarters are in Montvale, New Jersey. Western Union has a number of divisions, with products such as person-to-person money transfer, money orders, and commercial services. As of September 9, 2008, the company has 350,000 Western Union agent locations in over 240 countries and territories.

How To Use (Getting Paid)

The sender goes to a Western Union office and gives them the money (plus fees), for Next Day or Money in Minutes service. Sender needs the recipient's name and payment city. WU gives the sender a Money Transfer Control ID which they then pass on to the recipient. Recipient goes to any WU agency in the designated payment city, presents the Transfer ID and picture ID, and are paid the money. Money is paid in cash, or if payments exceeds a local maximum or cash on hand, a check. Please include your email address with the cheque so we can email your registration credentials.

Interac Email Money Transfer

Interac Email Money Transfer (EMT) is a funds transfer service between personal accounts at participating Canadian financial institutions. The provider of this service is CertaPay, a division of Acxsys Corporation. If your bank is in Canada you will be able to send the world's first, interbank-based Interac Email Money Transfers.

How it works

An Email Money Transfer resembles an e-check in many respects. The money is not actually transferred by e-mail. Only the instructions to retrieve the funds are.

  • The sender opens an online banking session and chooses the recipient, the amount to send, as well as a security question and answer. The funds are debited instantly.
  • An e-mail is then sent to the recipient, with instructions on how to retrieve the funds and answer the question, via a secure website. The funds are deposited instantly at no extra charge.

Wire Transfer

Wire transfer or credit transfer is a method of transferring money from one person or institution (entity) to another. A wire transfer can be made from one bank account to another bank account or through a transfer of cash at a cash office.

How it works

Bank wire transfers are often the most expedient method for transferring funds between bank accounts. A bank wire transfer is effected as follows:

1. The person wishing to do a transfer (or someone they have appointed and empowered financially to act on their behalf) goes to the bank and gives the bank the order to transfer a certain amount of money. IBAN and BIC code are given as well so the bank knows where the money needs to be sent to.
Contact us for the IBAN and BIC code.
2. The sending bank transmits a message, via a secure system (such as SWIFT or Fedwire), to the receiving bank, requesting that it effect payment according to the instructions given.

International Money Orders

An international money order is a payment order for a pre-specified amount of money done internationaly. With it, a buyer can easily pay a seller for goods or services if he or she resides in another country. International money orders are often issued by a buyer's bank and bought in the currency that the seller accepts. International money orders are thought to be safer than sending currency through the post because there are various forms of identification required to cash an international money order, often including a signature and a form of photo identification. Please include your email address with the cheque so we can email your registration credentials.

Certified Cheques

When a certified cheque is drawn, the bank operating the account verifies there are currently sufficient funds in the drawer's account to honour the cheque. A hole is punched through the MICR numbers so the certified cheque will not be processed as an ordinary cheque when it is deposited, and a bank official signs the cheque face to indicate it is certified. Although the face of the cheque is crowded, the back of the cheque is blank and the cheque can be deposited and routed through the banking system like an ordinary cheque. Please include your email address with the cheque so we can email your registration credentials.
