A generator provides power during a power outage when hydro is affected and must be installed and connected through a transfer switch in order to isolate the power from utility power. The transfer switch allows to restore power to essential circuits when power is off.

We stock manual transfer switches with 6 (Models 6-5000 and 6-7500) circuit capability for up to 5000W 20A and 7500Watt 30A 125/250V generators respectively. The manual transfer switches are wired directly to the load center inside the home and provide a fast and easy way of connecting the generator to the home during a power outage.

Advantages of Transfer Switch:

  • Saves time during power outages and is easy in operation
  • Offers clean power & back up power to residential dwellings
  • Prevents accidental connection from utility to generator
  • Provides an alternative method back-up energy supply

Features:

  • Easy installation: all system components are pre-wired.
  • All loads are protected by circuit breakers both in normal and emergency modes.
  • Generator cable protection is offered from power inlet box.
  • Built in watt-meters permit to monitor load for each individual circuit.
  • Wires are coded for easy wiring.
  • Approved by E.T.L. (Electrical Test Laboratory, U.S.A.)

Manual transfer switches allow home owners to safely switch from the utility power to a back-up generator during power black-out. The transfer switches are designed to handle emergency circuits only during a power outage. Examples of the circuits are refrigerators, sump pumps, furnaces and submergible well pumps.

During a power outage, plug the generator into manual transfer switch and turn one circuit at a time from the "LINE" position to the "GEN" position. Turn the appliance on the circuit ON and monitor the wattage used by the appliance. When operating off of the generator, it is recommended that the loads are approximately the same on both meters to maximize the efficiency of the generator. When normal power is restored the selector switch on the Transfer Switch is returned to the line position and the plug cap from the generator is removed from the Transfer Switch.
